STupid Title, couldn't be longer. But anyway, what it was supposed to say, is WHy I consider, the spectacular spider man tv series, to be the best spider man tv series! I bet immature, haters will hate this, and say, that the 90s is the best, and blah blah blah, but let me explain, why I think this is the best. And, for a note. Im not gonna mention the animation. Im just talking about the stories, voices, characters, and such. So..lets begin.
1. The big man of crime.
Okay, There is a guy, who controls, most of the criminal activity, in New York. And, I bet its the kingpin. You probably, know I don't really like the kingpin. I admit, he's one of the smartest characters around, but he just reminds, me too much of a fat lex luthor. No offense if you like him, I just got a different opinion. And In the spectacular spider man, series we learn that the guy who controls the criminal activity, is Tombstone....wait, what? Its not the kingpin? Actually. No. Its not the kingpin. Its L. Thompson Lincoln AKA Tombstone. And, BOY is this guy awesome in the series! When, Spidey first meets him, he kicks Spidey's ass. He proves himself, to be just as smart, if not smarter then the kingpin, and to top it all off, he is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson. Tombstone FTW! A better, Big man of crime, then Kingpin!
2. The spidey villains.
This is one place, where I felt, they were all done right! By sticking more, to the source material, for some villains. Sure, they did some changes to some villains, but I didn't have any problem with that! One change, they did was with Electro. In the comics, he was just sort of a goofy villain. I didn't care about him. but in this series? They did what Paul DIni, and Bruce timm did with Mister Freeze in Batman the animated series. They made Electro a very tragic villain. I actually, feel sorry for him. After an accident, at Dr Conner's lab, he ends up, producing electricity, from he's body, constantly, In fact, he has to wear a special suit, so he can't harm people. but because, he's body, is constantly producing electricity, he can't drink or eat. And the pain, he goes through, during he's first episode? Like I said, I feel very sorry for him. And when he's mask, is taken off? he looks more, like just a bunch of electricity with a face, so to speak. he is just that awesome!
And, Doc Ock, is also a villain, they did right. At first, in the series, he is just a scientist working for Osborn. But, when the tragic event, happens and he's arms, are completely, attached to him, so to speak. Man, this guy, raises he's awesome level, ten times! he tries to destroy, both Norman and Spidey! And, after many years, of humiliation, from Osborn, he says He will not be weak! ANd that is one, of the things about this version I like. He proves, that he is not, weak, he doesn't work for anyone, after he becomes doc ock, heck the other super villains, end up working for him! First, he is the leader of the sinister six, and later in the series, he Gets nicknamed, The master planner! Cause thats what he is! This, version is defiantly one of the best versions of Doc Ock. If, we replaced the doc ock, from The 90s show, with this version, Doc Ock, would tear a hole, gather the super villains, together, go to the Kingpin, Hold, him in he's tentacles, and ask Rhino "DO you want to crush he's skull, or simply impale he's heart on your horn?"
This, show remembered to have Gwen Stacy as Spidey's first love interest! And, how it is builded up, during the series, I really like! Its a shame, that the series, got cancelled, after season 2, cause if the series, continued, Im sure, she would have been killed by the green Goblin, and have a huge impact on Spidey, giving him, some very huge character development.
The Green Goblin.
In design, he doesn't look very much, like the comic version. But hey, he's more closer then the ultimate version of the green Goblin, but thats not the point, the point, is that in personality, this version of the green Goblin, is closer to the comic version, then any other. He doesn't have any double personality thing, he is insane! ANd, thats what the Goblin, is! he tries, to replace, Tombstone, as the new big man of crime, he's an awesome, fighter, and is pretty much, how the Goblin, is in the comics! Steven Blum, also gives an awesome voice for him too! And, I have to say, that Steven Blum's goblin laughter, can actually compete with Mark Hamill's joker laugh, and that is saying a lot. And during, the series, The Goblin's identity, is actually a big mystery. For most of the series, we end up believing that its Harry who is the Goblin, and not Norman. And, the fact that norman Osborn, got a different voice actor too, just helps, to misguide us! Heck, at one time, we see both The Goblin, and Norman in the same room, together! We are convinced that its Harry who is the Goblin! But, at the end, of season 2, we learn that Norman is the Goblin, And even tough, I kinda knew it, it came as a shock to me. It is proven, that the Chameleon, was posing, as Osborn, and such, and it just helps to prove, that Osborn, doesn't suffer from multiple personality, He knows what he is doing, he is insane, and the Goblin, isn't just another voice, in he's head. Norman Osborn. IS The green Goblin.
And, that are some of the reasons, I think the spectacular spider man Tv Series, is the best spidey Tv series. If, you disagree, thats fine. Enjoy what Spidey, series you want, be it, the 90s version, or the Ultimate spider man tv series, with the Green goblin, that looks like a Hulk Rip-off. Enjoy, whatever you want.
